Partnering up with Chipotle to promote sustainable farming, Willie Nelson has covered Coldplay’s “The Scientist,” from 2002’s A Rush Of Blood To The Head.
The purveyor of super-tasty burritos has long been a proponent of sourcing ingredients from farms that follow sustainable practices (what the chain calls “Food With Integrity”), while Nelson has been super-vocal about his support of family farmers for decades, most visibly through Farm Aid, the organization he started in 1985 with fellow musicians John Mellencamp and Neil Young, including its annual benefit concert.
With Nelson’s cover of “The Scientist” as its soundtrack, the simple animated film below by Johnny Kelly uses the tale of one farmer to show how the need to feed millions took a few upsetting turns along the way. But also that it’s not too late to “get back to the start,” and do better.
Purchase Willie Nelson – “The Scientist” (Coldplay cover) via iTunes, where 60 cents of each download will support The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, a newly launched non-profit organization dedicated to creating a sustainable, healthful, and equitable food future.
