Earlier this year — April, to be precise — newcomer Vanbot released a couple of brilliant tracks (“Make Me, Break Me” and “Lost Without You”), followed quickly by her stunning self-titled debut album, earning well-deserved praise and gushing accolades from pop music aficionados like yours truly.
Vanbot’s eponymous album remains one of 2011’s very best releases, in any genre. No small feat for a Swedish synth-pop newcomer in any year, but a particularly noteworthy accomplishment in one that has served up a slew of fantastic full-lengths from artists like Adele, Friendly Fires, Theophilus London, Lykke Li, Little Dragon, Washed Out, M83, Penguin Prison, Darren Hayes, Kelly Clarkson, and (just today) Florence + The Machine. That’s quite the mother lode, and I’m sure I’ve left out a few more worthy releases, which just proves what a strong year it’s been for music.
But while those artists have all treated us to some original visual stimulation to promote their music, Vanbot has yet to share the pair of videos she filmed earlier this year. “When the time is right, I will release them,” she tweeted a follower just a couple of weeks ago. For an album that’s been out for six months, why the wait?
Vanbot has also been hinting at forthcoming remixes for some time, but today she came through on that front, sharing the first taste of what she says will be an official remix album. “‘Bitter Is The Sweetest Part (Bremen Remix)’ is the dancing sister of the original track,” she says. “Bremen wanted to catch the emotion he experienced in a night club in Warsaw. The pulsating beat and the intense lead synths blaring in frustration. I really love this remix and have been longing to share it with you!”
As someone who’s been longing for Vanbot to share something new, remixes are miles better than a music video anyway. Plus, she’s offering it as a free download too. Hear here:

Vanbot also recently tweeted that she was recording vocals for Fear Of Tigers, but there’s no word on whether those are for her remix album or for some other unrelated project. She’s also landed a slot at next year’s South By Southwest, with the festival serving as her U.S. debut.
