Saturdance

Late ‘Summer’

While large swaths of the country are now dipping into the colder half of fall, San Francisco is enjoying some of the highest temps of the year. Right now, even though the sun’s gone down, it’s 74 degrees outside. It seems completely antithetical to autmnn, an experience this born-and-bred Midwesterner still hasn’t adjusted to.

So it’s fitting that the track in the Saturdance spotlight tonight is “Alien Summer,” from Toxic Avenger featuring Annie. This one first hit the blogs last May, but continuing last week’s theme of super-delayed dance tracks, “Alien Summer” was only released to iTunes last month. After searching for this one all summer long, I’d nearly given up hope, but lo and behold, there “Alien Summer” was, well past Labor Day but just in time for the Bay Area’s annual heatwave. Hear here:

We’re still awaiting Annie’s follow-up to 2009’s Don’t Stop, so the sunny vibes of the Norwegian singer-songwriter’s team-up with Toxic Avenger (featured on the French electro producer’s debut album, Angst) will likely have to carry us all through the winter.
