The first official single from former Pussycat Doll Jessica Sutta, “Show Me” made its debut a few weeks ago as a bonus track on the 39th volume of NOW That’s What I Call Music!
Though the release of “Show Me” follows on the heels of recent singles from fellow ex-PCD sisters Melody Thornton and Nicole Scherzinger, Sutta officially separated from the manufactured pop group ahead of both, in January 2010. Recuperating from a broken rib that sidelined her from touring with the Dolls, Sutta realized it was time to step out on her own.
Sutta actually already had a bit of that under her belt. While The Pussycat Dolls were on hiatus in 2007, she was the featured vocalist on dance tracks by Dave Audé and Paul Van Dyk. “Make It Last” reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart, while “White Lies” topped out at #3. Earlier this year, Sutta guested on Cedric Gervais’ “Where Ever U Are,” from his Miamication album. The track was released as a single last month.
Now signed to Hollywood Records, Sutta’s prepping her debut album, Sutta Pop, due next year, with “Show Me” serving as the set’s lead single. Though the track is club-ready as is, it’s been remixed and extended for maximum peak-time pleasure by Dave Audé, Alex Gaduino and Jason Rooney, and Ralphi Rosario.
This week, “Show Me” is #29 on the Billboard Dance chart. Her first climb as a solo artist, Sutta’s just getting started.
