Tensnake Lets The Kids Play House

July 9, 2011 1 Comment

Kids pretending to be adults often comes off more annoying than endearingly precocious.

But watching elementary-schoolers reenact the goings-on of a typical evening in clubland — name checked against “the list,” being snubbed at “the door,” “raising a glass” with friends (milk, of course), a song “going off” — in the music video for Tensnake‘s “Something About You,” the visual sum is so much more entertaining than the written treatment I most likely would have rejected outright (a gold star for you, Pondr).

Another stellar house anthem from Tensnake, who’s turned out mixes for Goldfrapp, Scissor Sisters and (most recently) Little Dragon, “Something About You” is constructed from basic elements without needless knob-twiddling. Following last year’s fantastic “Coma Cat,” consider “Something About You” the German producer’s new master class in remaining true to both musical genre and his form-follows-function forebearers.
