Return of The Rapture

July 20, 2011 0 Comments

The Rapture is back. No, not the true-believers-ascend-to-heaven one that got rescheduled for the fall due to a calculator error, but the New York City dance-punk band who’ve been absent from the scene for a while. The last something-new from The Rapture was the Timbaland-produced “No Sex For Ben,” included on 2008’s The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack.

In The Grace Of Your Love, The Rapture’s fourth album and their first since 2006’s Pieces Of The People We Love, arrives September 6 via DFA Records. Recorded in Brooklyn and Paris, the new set is produced by Phillipe Zdar of Cassius, who was behind the board for Phoenix’s 2009 breakthrough, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.

“How Deep Is Your Love?” is the first single from In The Grace Of Your Love, and while I was disappointed to discover that it is, in fact, not a cover of the Bee Gees’ lush disco-era classic, The Rapture have delivered a kicky, Chicago house number designed to get a new generation of kids sweaty under the lights. (And maybe some older folks, too. Ahem.) Hear here:

With In The Grace Of Your Love arriving at the start of September, you’ll have more than a month to get down with The Rapture’s new music before the world’s total destruction on October 21.
