[STRANGERS] – “No Longer Lost”

Album, what album?

Embracing the era of immediacy, [STRANGERS] have embarked upon a free download series, which the London trio launched last month with the superlative “Sense Of Liberty.”

“We have been in the studio writing a lot, and thought why not give some of the tracks away for free, let people hear the music, and build our fanbase at the same time,” frontman David Maddox-Jones told CMU. “Every time we release a new song we always reach new people. We have fans all over the world now which is really exciting.”

Right on time, [STRANGERS] have ushered in August’s entrance with “No Longer Lost.” Joining Maddox-Jones on their “haunting tale of lust and obsession” is female vocalist Charli Rouse. The band describes the song as having been “written with whisky in hand, late one night in May 2020 after overdosing on some of our favorite records.”

While the freestyle beat is an unexpected delight from such denizens of dark pop, Rouse’s soulful vocal on the bridge is the beautiful cherry on top. Rouse might be unsigned at the moment, but thanks to the kindness of [STRANGERS], I imagine some wise A&R person will soon snap her up.

With two songs down in the series, [STRANGERS] have certainly set the bar high for their four future freebies.
