It’s been a while since Swedish duo Icona Pop delivered something new to enjoy. Their debut 4-track EP, Nights Like This, was released last October, while December brought us the gift of a cover of Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita.”
Well, Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt have come through with a sixth song to dazzle our eardrums, “I Love It.” Sounding like an amped-up Bananarama crossed with the elastic beat of Martin Solveig’s “Hello,” Icona Pop’s new single has an even cooler pedigree. “I Love It” was penned by fellow upstart popper, Charli XCX.
Available in Sweden, there’s no word on when for “I Love It” will receive a proper single release elsewhere. As for Charli XCX, she says to look for her new single, “You’re The One,” at the end of July. These pop ladies sure do love to keep us waiting.
