‘Famous’ First Words From Katy Tiz

November 6, 2012 2 Comments

Katy Tiz may sing “You only want to touch me ’cause I’m famous”* in the chorus to her debut single, “Famous,” but lest you assume the UK pop newcomer has a prematurely inflated sense of self, she’s quick to set the record straight:

“It’s a tongue-in-cheek, ironic song. It’s funny because I’m not famous. I take my profession very seriously, but I want to enjoy this experience as much as possible and have fun — whether it lasts two months or 15 years. I’m almost making this song to prove I’m not one of those fake people. I always want to be real. I want to be me. I’ll never change. The only thing that changes is my address.”

Unconfirmed is whether Tiz is aware that “Famous” shares a hook with Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Wishing Well.”

The music video for “Famous” premiered yesterday. While Tiz has a long road to travel before she’s a household name, the camera certainly loves her. And having a pair of hot guys fighting over her in the clip isn’t a bad way to grab some eyeballs.

*That’s the censored version of “Famous.” Tiz’s original version replaces “touch” with a four-letter word that begins with “F.”

Katy Tiz – “Famous” is out November 13.
