My first encounter with Kris Allen’s “The Vision Of Love” was via a raved-up remix that unexpectedly surfaced in January. The official single version premiered at the start of March, confirming that former American Idol winner hasn’t traded his guitar and piano in and gone off to the club just yet.
However, since Allen’s new ‘Everybody get together and try to love one another right now’ anthem — co-written and produced by The Messengers (Justin Bieber, JoJo) — is equipped with a driving beat, a detour toward the disco lights doesn’t seem so off track.
“The Vision Of Love” is the lead single from Allen’s forthcoming sophomore album, Thank You Camellia, out May 22. The music video showcases the story of two teens battling insecurity brought upon by external and internal forces, intercut with clips of an emotive Allen looking casually cute as ever. Lenny Bass (Little Jackie, Fantasia) directs.
As for that raved-up remix of “The Vision Of Love,” from Finnish duo Maison & Dragen, it’s available in edited form on a Walmart exclusive CD single. Here’s hoping Allen sees fit to share it with the rest of us.
