Nearly a year after the single release (and even longer since the song first surfaced), it’s still “Lights” on for Ellie Goulding.
The English singer-songwriter recently visited The Late Show with David Letterman to perform the song whilst banging her drum, snaring a new fan in the host himself. Now Goulding has released a remix video for “Lights” set to Fernando Garibay‘s re-do, originally released last summer.
Goulding’s label must think there’s life left in “Lights” yet, and I agree. With a new focus on the remix from prolific Lady Gaga collaborator Garibay, radio might yet wake up to the song. And really, there should be no sleeping with “Lights” on, especially when it’s been beefed up by Garibay in a turn that sacrifices none of the original tune’s sparkle.
Goulding is committed to breaking in the U.S., visiting numerous times for tours, retail stops, and TV appearances, including the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, D.C., this past December. I was lucky enough to see Goulding solo in San Francisco twice last year (one intimate showcase, the other less so), and hope she visits the Bay Area again in 2012.
