Very Good Bones

November 3, 2011 4 Comments

After self-releasing a couple of EPs in 2008 and 2009, young British synthpop trio The Good Natured ultimately secured a deal with Parlophone in the UK earlier this year and issued a new single, “Skeleton” this past summer. (You might already have a bit of The Good Natured on your iPod, as songs “Wolves” and “Be My Animal” also made the free MP3 rounds in the first half of 2011.)

Signed to Astralwerks in the U.S., “Skeleton” serves as the title track to an exclusive stateside EP released just last week. On the song, 20-year-old frontwoman Sarah McIntosh sounds like a less icy La Roux or a more understandable Björk with unbridled sex on the brain. The group’s principal songwriter, vocalist McIntosh does double duty on keyboards, while her brother Hamish handles bass and George Hinton is behind the drum kit. Together, the resulting pop fury of “Skeleton”comes off like a darker, but no less infectious take on Metro Station’s ebullient, “Shake It.”

“Skeleton” and the EP’s other tracks were produced by Patrik Berger, who co-wrote and produced Robyn’s pop-opus, “Dancing On My Own.” With such good bones, “Skeleton” offers a great, official introduction to The Good Natured. Rip it all off, so hot, don’t stop:
