This past spring via Beatport, Martin Solveig invited bedroom DJs to remix “Hello,” his Dragonette-featuring smash that also soundtracked Trident gum commercials.
After Solveig selected ten of his favorites from all of the entries received, these “Summer 11 Remixes” were made available for purchase as a Beatport exclusive EP in July. Last week, the set went mainstream, hitting iTunes and Amazon MP3.
With ten mixes to choose from, there’s a new “Hello” for everyone, from dubstep to 8-bit and hip-hop and lounge. My pick is the Relanium Remix, a bouncy rework that also manages to be absolutely beautiful. Hear here:
Solveig is one of the producers rumored to be working with Madonna on her new studio album, while Dragonette co-wrote “Lucky Day” for Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts’ debut solo album, Cinderella’s Eyes. The Canadian electro-pop band is currently wrapping up tracks for their third album, expected to be released later this year.
