Is there anything Betty White can’t do? The 89-year-old AARP spokesperson, who’s enjoyed quite the career resurgence in the past couple of years, is now making a dash for the dancefloor.
Yes, you read that correctly and neither will your ears be deceived. Betty White has contributed vocals to a new version of Luciana’s “I’m Still Hot,” produced by Dave Audé, which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart in March. Hearing the last surviving Golden Girl boast, “I’ll rock your world with my cheesecake,” to a thumping club beat is a hoot and a half, but the track is still solid enough that it transcends being mere novelty (credit Luciana’s performance and Audé’s skillful production).
How this all came to be is still something of a mystery to me, but the remix was commissioned by The Lifeline Program, a company that purchases life insurance policies from seniors. A music video for “I’m Still Hot” premieres next month, in which Betty White stars with a bevy of beefcake and one boa constrictor (on loan from the Los Angeles Zoo, which benefits from sales of the single). Hear here:
Fun fact: Luciana co-wrote one of my favorite tracks on Kylie Minogue’s Aphrodite, “Cupid Boy.”
