For Fred Schneider of The B-52s, who released their first live CD/DVD set earlier this month, no party is out of bounds. Last year, his side project with Orlando, Florida-based duo Noah Brodie and Dan Marshall, The Superions, delivered their Destination… Christmas! album in time for yuletide merriment (the only way anyone should ever enjoy fruitcake). Now the trio has returned with a new single, “Bat Baby,” a song that would sound great at your Halloween shindig.
Just as zany as its title and musical bloodline suggests, “Bat Baby” is the tale of a bloodthirsty “vampire brat.” For the music video, The Superions have planted their collective tongues even further into cheek by lensing an extended black-and-white homage to B-grade horror films. Featuring laughably low-budget special effects, buxom babes (including one drag queen), and plenty of untimely demise, it’s a total scream:
