Video Premiere

A Galaxy Not So Far Away

If I had my druthers, no new music would be released in December, as unless one is a star of stratospheric status, the arrival of new songs and albums is too often overlooked admist the holiday hubbub.

Danish band The Asteroids Galaxy Tour — who previously grabbed some attention via iPod and Heineken spots using their music — released a new single, “Heart Attack,” a month ago. Good thing they’d filmed a music video and held its release until this week.

Featuring Farfisa organ and sci-fi sound effects, “Heart Attack” is an exuberant ’60s-inspired sonic shindig. Think Madonna’s “Beautiful Stranger” but as viewed through the pogo-pop lens of Martin Solveig & Dragonette’s “Hello.” (Worth noting that Madonna has re-teamed with William Orbit, who produced “Beautiful Stranger,” for her new album, M.D.N.A., out in March, which also features contributions from Solveig.)

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour’s music video for “Heart Attack” is a colorful kick, with vocalist Mette Lindberg managing to resemble Madonna, Kristin Chenoweth, and Amy Sedaris in the clip. I’m confident two of those names mean very little in Copenhagen, so consider those comparisons having been made through American eyes.

“Heart Attack” appears on The Asteroids Galaxy Tour’s new album, Out Of Frequency, out January 31.
