Video Premiere

French ‘Class’

Class Actress‘ “Keep You” was one of my Top 100 Tracks of 2011, and today the Brooklyn-based trio premiered a music video for “Bienvenue.”

Both songs are taken from Class Actress’ debut album, Rapprocher, which has a totally endearing early ’80s quality to it, awash in synthesizers and drum machines. There’s a dash of Depeche Mode, a sprinkling of Prince, a little Madonna, and skipping ahead several years, a touch of T’Pau — a cumulative sound that’s best classified as a lower-key La Roux.

The music video for “Bienvenue” (shot in Paris, naturally) casts Class Actress’ Elizabeth Harper as a fashion model who, while making love to the camera, connects with the photographer’s handsome assistant (Sina Araghi). Later, he tracks her down on his bicycle as she walks alone along the Seine, and the two share a tender moment under a canopy of lights. Très romantique.

Purchase Class Actress – “Bienvenue” via iTunes, Amazon MP3. You can still grab free downloads of previous singles, “Keep You” and “Weekend,” via the band’s website.
