Live Love

A Glass(es) Act

“Guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses.”

I never put much stock in that schoolyard taunt, and today I’m besotted by bespectacled boys and girls. Appearing on The Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday night to perform her hip-pop collaboration with fellow Canadian K’naan, “Is Anybody Out There?,” Nelly Furtado rocked a pair of substantial, black frames. Complemented by a navy blue trench, she looked fantastic, and her live vocals reminded me just how talented she is.

You might remember the Somali-born K’naan from his appearance on two tracks from Keane’s 2010 Night Train EP, including the single, “Stop For A Minute.” “Is Anybody Out There?” is the lead track on K’naan’s own EP, More Beautiful Than Silence, released in January.

Nelly Furtado’s new album, T.S.I., is due later this year. She’s been documenting her time in the studio via a series of video clips, like this one.
