Vanbot Gets Out Of The Cold

February 28, 2012 1 Comment

After premiering her new single, “Got To Get Out,” last week via Nylon, today Vanbot has officially released it worldwide.

As it happens, exactly one year has passed since Esther Ideskog posted her first single, “Make Me, Break Me,” with word soon spreading of her synthpop amazingness. Vanbot’s self-titled debut was my favorite album of 2011, and from the sounds of “Got To Get Out,” which she says is destined for her sophomore set, the Swedish pop singer could provide some serious competition for 2012’s top spot if it comes out this calendar year.

So what’s “Got To Get Out” about? Vanbot says the song was inspired by her hometown environs. “Even though Stockholm is a small city, I sometimes feel that it has a cold mentality where eye contact often is avoided, and people don’t waste their greetings,” she says. “‘Got To Get Out’ is about feeling lonely in the crowd and it’s a call to break the ice.”

Next month, Vanbot makes her stateside debut at SXSW. If you’re attending the mammoth music festival, you’ve got to get out to see her and extend her a warm American welcome.
