Team-ups between classic acts and those of more recent vintage aren’t always successful, particularly when each comes from very different genres.

But the melding of Motown veteran Martha Reeves’ soulful sound with The Crystal Method’s electronic beats for the RE:GENERATION documentary project, is some kind of spectacular alchemy. Last night, they brought their funky jam, “I’m Not Leaving,” to Jimmy Kimmel Live, a tour de force that’ll keep you dancing in the streets.

Martha Reeves, who also performed on VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul in December, is 70 years old. Still motorin’ on, she ain’t going nowhere.
