Boy, Lana Del Rey sure wasn’t kidding by titling her debut, Born To Die, at least on the basis of the two official music videos released so far, the album’s title track and the latest, “Blue Jeans.”
Once again, Del Rey meets an untimely demise whilst in close proximity to her heavily tattooed lover (Bradley Soileau, returning for a second appearance). This time, the setting for the pair’s fatal attraction is a pool in Palm Springs, which also appears to be lousy with crocs. (The reptile, not the plastic footwear, though neither is a good look.)
Yoann Lemoine, who directed “Born To Die,” is again behind the camera for “Blue Jeans,” lensing Del Rey’s latest in black and white. The choice supports the song’s film-noir overtones and only furthers comparisons to “Wicked Game”:
This is actually the second music video for “Blue Jeans.” The first was edited and posted by Del Rey before she landed her record deal.
Look for Lana Del Rey on American Idol this Thursday, as Jimmy Iovine keeps it in the Interscope family. Her performance of “Blue Jeans” was reportedly pre-taped last week.
