Australian pop auteur Darren Hayes has premiered the music video for “Stupid Mistake,” the latest single to be plucked from Secret Codes And Battleships, his fourth studio album released last year.
Hayes dips into the face paint for the urgent “Stupid Mistake,” exploring an alternate side of his personality with a disturbing visage that mirrors The Joker of The Dark Knight. In close-ups, Hayes’ transformation resembles a young Robert Sean Leonard rather the late Heath Ledger.
As for what it all means, Hayes’ smeared lips are sealed. “I don’t want to explain it,” he tweeted. “I’m very proud.”
A 4-track Stupid Mistake EP is out on May 6, though Hayes is also mum on what else to expect on the release.
