Tomorrow, Bonnie Raitt releases Slipstream, her first new studio album since 2005’s Souls Alike. As is the multi-Grammy winner’s tradition, the set features a mix of covers and original material.
The lead single from Slipstream is a cover of Gerry Rafferty’s 1978 hit, “Right Down The Line,” as featured here in February. Now Raitt has premiered a music video for “Right Down The Line,” shot right in Popservations’ backyard.
Directed by Steven Lippman (aka FLIP), Raitt’s performance piece of the video was filmed at the long-shuttered New Mission Theater in San Francisco (currently set for renovation). The couples’ portraits were shot in the adjacent Noe Valley neighborhood, and in an equality-for-all salute, the clip includes some same-sex pairings. Yay, Bonnie! That’ll give ’em something to talk about.
