Turn It Up

‘California’ Dreamy

It’s been nearly a year since A B & The Sea released the brightly poppy “In The Sunshine.” Now the San Francisco band is back with a new single, “California Feeling,” just in time to welcome the return of warmer temperatures.

Like its power-pop predecessor, “California Feeling” was produced by Wallpaper. The track previews A B & The Sea’s debut album, the aptly titled Constant Vacation, due in June but streaming now.

Anchored by a driving beat, the breezy “California Feeling” is a toe-tapper tailored to the open road, though the song briefly detours into darker tones with a unexpected melodic nod to Blue Öyster Cult’s FM classic, “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.”

Of course, as I pen this post, San Francisco is experiencing one of the grayest days in recent memory. All the more reason to crank up “California Feeling.”

Stream A B & The Sea’s Constant Vacation via Bandcamp. Check out the band’s tour dates at that link, including their residency at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas later this month.
