The KDMS is a London-based duo formed in 2009 by singer Kathy Diamond and producer Max Skiba. (Their initials give the group its name.) The KDMS recently issued their debut album, Kinky Dramas and Magic Stories, which collects previous singles, like “High Wire” and “Tonight”, plus new tracks and remixes.
In the run-up to the album’s release, The KDMS posted a cover of Madonna’s “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” giving the Queen of Pop’s record 38th top 10 hit a sultry, streetwise spin. Chucking the cheerleader chant (save a single “Madonna!” at the end) and the Nicki Minaj/M.I.A. raps, Diamond and Skiba amazingly have managed to bring “Give Me All Your Luvin'” closer to the early ’80s disco orbit of “Lucky Star.”
The KDMS’ revelatory revision makes me wish Madonna would take a break from tour rehearsals and re-record “Give Me All Your Luvin’,” copying their new template in full. But until that happens, we’ve got the next best thing — The KDMS’ cover set to classic Madonna footage.
