“Baby Come Home,” which opens Scissor Sisters‘ new album, Magic Hour, released last week, is the track that most closely recalls the 1970s pop-rock sound the band pursued on their 2004 debut and 2006’s Ta-Dah.
Picked as the third single from Magic Hour (or second, depending on how “Shady Love” is categorized), “Baby Come Home” now has a music video. Directed by Lorenzo Fonda, the clip isn’t explicitly inspired by the monogamish storyline of the song — one partner anxiously awaiting the return of his allowed-to-carouse other half — but instead uses beer bottle labels as the graphic hook.
Any excuse for Jake, Ana, Baby Daddy, and Del to don an array of costumes and guises (nun, witch, sailor, viking, knight, etc.), but Fonda’s concept makes “Baby Come Home” an engaging video from start to end.
