Though Little Boots‘ new song, “Headphones,” departs from the house sound of recent singles, “Shake” and “Every Night I Say A Prayer,” don’t think the diminutive diva is departing the dance floor just yet.
No, Ms. Victoria Hekseth is keeping her tiny feet firmly planted there with the help of New York City duo The Knocks. B-Roc and JPatt’s thick disco-funk production supports Little Boots’ defiant stance of donning headphones during a night out, “dancing to a beat that’s in my head.”
Why not find a club that plays the type of tunes you prefer? Or stay home and save the cover charge? Obvious questions and easy solutions, but if Little Boots had paid any mind, then we wouldn’t have “Headphones” to get lost in, would we?
The music video for “Headphones” might be the best use of a peep-show setting since Madonna’s “Open Your Heart.” It could also be that there simply aren’t very many videos set in such establishments. Bullion Collective directs.
Already out in the UK, Little Boots brings her “Headphones” to the U.S. on Tuesday. The EP includes remixes by Todd Edwards, Ronika, and Dimitri From Paris, who — speaking of Madonna — puts a very “Into The Groove” spin on the proceedings. Dimitri’s dub is already out, a free download via SoundCloud.
