Upstart princes of dark pop [STRANGERS] have premiered the music video for “Safe/Pain,” the British trio’s new single out next month.
A collaboration between [STRANGERS] and visual design team Zenessex, “Safe/Pain” was directed by Claire Coulton and Richard A. Sharpe. Filmed at Sharpe’s studio in Essex, which once served as a rat-testing facility, the clip features authentic 1940s mannequins borrowed from a vintage car museum.
Surrounded by the creepy collection of bald, blank-stared plastic ladies, one real-life brunette with a close-cropped cut has a bit of a breakdown in her confused state. Can’t say I blame her. There’s only one mannequin I’d ever spend time with, and she’s vintage 1987.
While [STRANGERS]’ “Safe/Pain” isn’t out for a few weeks, someone’s already covered the song. The band has tweeted praise for 18-year-old singer Alice Jemima’s performance, deeming it “amazing… we got goosebumps.” Listen and download below.
