Track of the Moment

In The Disco Camp

Last time I checked in on Summer Camp, the London duo was working a mid-’80s John Hughes soundtrack vibe on “Better Off Without You,” which appeared on their 2011 debut full-length, Welcome To Condale.

On the title track to Jeremy Walmsley and Elizabeth Sankey’s new EP, Always, the real-life couple is still very much in love with synths — they are not better off without them, you see — but this time their affection is aimed at the sequencer sounds of a decade earlier. Featuring a classic four-on-the-floor beat, “Always” pays homage to disco heroes Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer, with a little Blondie in the mix too.
