Video Premiere

Living In Oblivion

Frankly, it sort of slipped my mind that Santigold served up her sophomore album, Master Of My Make-Believe, this spring. “Big Mouth” (meh) and “Disparate Youth” (fantastic) both preceded the set’s release, after which things fell silent on the Santi White front.

That changes with the debut of a music video for Master Of My Make-Believe‘s third single, “The Keepers,” one of three tracks Santigold co-wrote with producer Greg Kurstin. Kurstin’s quite the busy man in music at the moment, with his name attached to current singles by P!nk, Sky Ferreira, and Kelly Clarkson.

On “The Keepers,” Kurstin’s keen pop sensibility is married a heavier message. Nothing unusual for Santigold, who addresses the utterly oblivious state of her fellow American citizens in the song and accompanying clip, which marks her directorial debut.

Still to come from Kurstin are six songs on Tegan and Sara’s next album (finished, but no release date yet), plus new material with Lily Allen, as she recently confirmed (quite explicitly) to Popjustice. You might recall the pair previously teamed up for a bit of brilliance titled, It’s Not Me, It’s You. Best of luck topping “The Fear,” you two!
