Following up last week’s moving lyric video, which featured Spencer West’s inspirational climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, Nelly Furtado has debuted the official music video for “The Spirit Indestructible.”
The song serves as the title track and second single from her fifth studio album, due September 18. I still find “The Spirit Indestructible” oddly structured, with too many musical ideas for it to have any impact, but Furtado certainly looks fabulous as she dons different outfits for the video. Aaron A, previously behind the camera for her 2007 single, “Do It,” directed the clip, filmed on Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, British Columbia.
“My first video, ‘I’m Like A Bird,’ was in nature, and this album, [The] Spirit Indestructible, is a sort of coming home to the original reason why I made music in the first place. To have fun and rejoice,” the Canadian singer-songwriter explains.
A single release is forthcoming, while its parent album, The Spirit Indestructible, is out 9/18.
