Dinowalrus covers The Orb

They said it couldn’t be done.

Actually, I doubt anyone ever even thought to say it couldn’t be done, but Dinowalrus has covered The Orb’s “Little Fluffy Clouds.” The 1990 ambient house classic would seem beyond the reach of being re-done, considering how sample-heavy the track is, particularly the snippets snatched from an old Rickie Lee Jones interview.

Amazingly, the Brooklyn psychedelic dance-rock band pulls it off, sans the very samples that would seem absolutely essential. Taking the words from the interviewer’s question that kicks off The Orb’s original track (“What were the skies like when you were young?”) and adding a new topline melody, Dinowalrus have delivered an impressive Madchester spin on “Little Fluffy Clouds.”

Dinowalrus’ sophomore album, Best Behavior, was released in March. Listen to the New Order-esque “What Now.”
