After Marina and the Diamonds‘ sophomore album, Electra Heart, was released in April in her native UK, the set finally made the journey to America in July. Along the way, one song was subtracted (“Living Dead”) while three others were added to the U.S. edition, including 2011 standout, “Radioactive,” and brand-new track, “How To Be A Heartbreaker.”
Picked as the second single and follow-up to “Primadonna”, out since March, “How To Be A Heartbreaker” was also produced by Dr. Luke and Cirkut, with frequent cohort Benny Blanco joining them behind the board. While there’s been no confirmation to my knowledge, I expect a music video for the single’s official release in short order.
Back in the UK though, Marina and the Diamonds fans will have to wait a bit longer for “How To Be A Heartbreaker,” which has been penciled in as the third single there. “Power & Control” is getting the push first, released with a slew of remixes this past Monday. The Greg Kurstin-produced track has been on repeat (and stuck in my head) since my early export of Electra Heart, and is one of my favorite songs on the album, for sure.
The music video for “Power & Control,” which co-stars Welsh model Dylan Garner, premiered last month. The blue-hued clip was directed by Danish photographer Caspar Balslev, who also helmed “Primadonna” and “Radioactive.”
