Little Boots is the latest turntablist to be queried for The Guardian‘s weekly (and brilliantly named) “Harangue The DJ” feature.

Asked to name the best track by her favorite new artist, the diminutive DJ, who’s also a singer-songwriter when not behind the decks, didn’t take the opportunity to big-up a fellow Brit. Instead, some sounds from the West Coast have been warming Victoria Heskseth’s heart, as she picked “Slow Down” by Poolside as her sound du jour.

“They’re a duo from L.A. that I’m really enjoying. Lots of summery synths, although it possibly makes more sense in the California sunshine where I’ve been working.”

Poolside is Filip Nikolic, who plays bass in Ima Robot, and Jeffrey Paradise, the musician/club promoter behind San Francisco dance parties Blow Up and Club 1994. The duo, whose first single, “Do You Believe?,” arrived last year to some acclaim, released their debut album, Pacific Standard Time, earlier this month.

Give “Slow Down” a spin and you’ll see why Little Boots is grooving to the sound that Poolside has deemed “daytime disco.”
