In the singles game, I can’t think of another synthpop band as consistently good as Dragonette. Martina Sorbara, Dan Kurtz, and Joel Stouffer seem to have some very good quality controls in place.
With their third album, Bodyparts, due on September 25, Dragonette delivered first single, “Let It Go,” in March. Another fantastic new track, “Rocket Ship,” followed in June as a free download.
Yesterday, Dragonette released the album’s proper second single, “Live In This City,” tweeting, “This one’s for the riots and the rabble rousers.” But lest you think the Canadian trio is revealing some heretofore hidden darker side, calm down. “Live In The City” is another irresistibly ebullient offering from Dragonette. If the song’s designed to incite anything, it’s dancing in the streets. Better alert the authorities.
Dragonette hits the road next month in support of Bodyparts, first touring the U.S. and then traveling throughout Canada.
