Ooh, Child

Today, August 15, 2012, would have been Julia Child’s 100th birthday. Besides being the subject of the latest Google Doodle, the culinary legend who brought gourmet cooking to the masses via her PBS series, The French Chef, has been remixed.

Yep, that’s right. Julia Child has been remixed, the latest in a series by PBS Digital Studios and John D. Boswell (aka melodysheep) that includes childhood favorite Mister Rogers (“Garden Of Your Mind”) and instructional painter Bob Ross (“Happy Little Trees”).

Though it’s been years since Julia Child graced our television screens, sautéing onions and chopping chickens, “Keep On Cooking” demonstrates that her approach remains as relevant and necessary as ever. “Freshness is essential, that makes all the difference.” Bon appétit!

Who will be the next PBS legend to receive the remix treatment? My money’s on Bob Vila of This Old House or perhaps Cajun cook, Justin Wilson.

Hungry for more Julia Child? Dig into another compilation of The French Chef clips, compiled by Boston PBS station WGBH, which produced the series, and set to “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” Did Axl Rose approve?
