Video Premiere

Through A Lens, Darkly

September 6, 2012 2 Comments

It’s been nearly a month since Ellie Goulding shared the Instagram-inspired lyric video for her new single, “Anything Could Happen.” Now the lead track from the UK singer’s sophomore album, Halcyon, out October 9, has an official music video.

While the clip’s seaside setting and collection of mirrored orbs initially indicate that something quite magical has happened, what has actually transpired along the rocky shore to Goulding (and her Skrillex-doppelgänger companion) is quite dark.

Such heavy visuals would seem to contradict Goulding’s own wishes for “Everything Could Happen,” as recently revealed to MTV News. “I’m hoping it will make people go out and propose to their girlfriends or go on that holiday they never ended up doing. I hope it will provoke positivity, as opposed to make people really sad.”

Maybe down is up in Goulding’s world?

If you noticed the Shazam button pop up in the first part of the video, here are the details on that.
