Video Premiere

Sleeper Agent’s Baby Budget

Necessity is the mother of invention, as the saying goes, something that Sleeper Agent experienced firsthand when setting out to make their lastest music video.

The Bowling Green, Kentucky indie band had bigger dreams for “That’s My Baby,” but lacking a budget and time to realize the concept, thought their dreams were completely dashed. Then a friend suggested setting the clip in a local karaoke bar. The backdrop allowed Sleeper Agent vocalist/guitarist Tony Smith, serving as director, to achieve the off-kilter, dreamlike feel he was after in the first place without breaking the bank.

“That’s My Baby” appears on Sleeper Agent’s 2011 debut album, Celebrasion, and provides a breather from the band’s typically raucous rock-pop. Alex Kandel’s sugar-laced vocals in the song’s bridge are a standout. And by making the most of a shoestring budget, the video for “That’s My Baby” might just make Sleeper Agent’s song a sleeper hit.

Sleeper Agent is working on their sophomore album, to be produced by Jay Joyce (Cage The Elephant, The Wallflowers).
