Track of the Moment

Tensnake Mainlines The ’90s

I’d typically target Tensnake for a Saturdance feature, but the German DJ/producer’s new track, “Mainline,” has finally received an official release and the weekend is just too long to wait.

I’ve been jonesing for “Mainline,” featuring vocals from South London singer-songwriter Syron, since hearing it for the first time last month. If you were ever addicted to late ’80s/early ’90s house music (Black Box most obviously comes to mind), Tensnake’s perfectly retro-styled production will get you hooked all over again.

The music video for “Mainline,” directed by PONDR, also has a throwback vibe. Well, except for the colored powder, which while rooted in Hinduism, has only taken off in popular culture more recently (see Regina SpektorKe$ha, P!nk).
