Everything But The Orchestra

November 17, 2012 1 Comment

Last month, Tori Amos released Gold Dust, an album featuring new arrangements of songs spanning the flame-haired chanteuse’s career, recorded with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orchestra.

“Flavor,” which originally appeared on Amos’ 2009 album, Abnormally Attracted To Sin, is the lead track on Gold Dust and also serves as the set’s promotional single. A music video for “Flavor” arrived in August ahead of the album’s release, and today Peter Rauhofer shared a trio of remixes featuring Amos’ new vocals.

Frankly, I’ve been disappointed by most club remixes of Amos’ songs over the years, but Rauhofer has really delivered, doing right by the source material. Particularly noteworthy is his Big Room Mix of “Flavor,” a deliciously dark rework that takes me back to one of my all-time favorites from the New York DJ/producer, the Club 69 Future Club Mix of Everything But The Girl’s “Five Fathoms (Love More).”
