Last November, Prince premiered a new (old) song, “Extraloveable,” ahead of his Canadian tour. To coincide with a trio of Chicago dates this September, he similarly debuted another new track, “Rock And Roll Love Affair,” an easygoing groove with bits that recall both “Take Me With U” and an ’80s sitcom theme I’ve yet to place.
But the Purple One has gone one further than he did for “Extraloveable,” releasing a music video for “Rock And Roll Love Affair.” Like the song, it’s a relaxed affair, featuring Prince and his largely all-female band performing in an otherwise closed nightclub.
“Rock And Roll Love Affair” marks Prince’s first music video in three years, though the last I remember seeing is 1995’s “Gold,” another performance-based clip (and a much better song).
Purchase Prince – “Rock And Roll Love Affair” via Purple Music (vinyl/CD only, with remixes by Jamie Lewis).
