The Good Natured & Colette Carr cover The Waitresses

December 6, 2012 0 Comments

While they reside on opposite sides of the pond, UK electropop trio The Good Natured and L.A. singer/rapper Colette Carr have come together in the spirit of the holidays to cover The Waitresses’ 1981 New Wave classic, “Christmas Wrapping.” Conveniently, they’re also Cherrytree Records label mates.

Unlike the Spice Girls and Oh My!, who changed the lyrics of “Christmas Wrapping” for their respective renditions (grocery store names, tour talk, substituting stuffing for cranberries as the side dish that slipped their mind), The Good Natured and Colette Carr keep things relatively reverential. The latter’s rap may be shiny and new, but it’s still set in 1981, making the Cherrytree team’s 2012 update one to c-c-celebrate.
