On paper (or whatever its web equivalent is), Monarchy doing a song with Dita Von Teese would seem the sort of project destined for a single spin out of sheer novelty.
But the London duo and the burlesque star, who recently bonded via Twitter and celebrated Christmas together in Paris, deliver the opposite with the urgent “Disintegration.” Andrew Armstrong and Ra Black float Von Teese’s restrained vocals atop some Moroder-esque synths in the verses with the cranked-up chorus (from one of the boys) providing release.
In the Roy Raz-directed music video, Von Teese plays a ’50s suburban housewife fantasizing about being released from her sheltered, suffocating existence. CSI actor Eric Szmanda provides the opening narration.
