Wanderhouse have followed up fall’s Ellie Goulding cover (a foreboding turn on “Lights” that I declared one of 2012’s best) with a new original song, “Sugar.”

Far from the kind of sweet tune such a title might suggest, producer Doctor Rosen Rosen and singer Marie Moreshead are still on the moody march in “Sugar.” Content to play in music’s darker corners — a space that’s not terribly populated these days, though “Sugar” does have shades of Lana Del Rey — Wanderhouse’s lead remains one worth following.
