Responsible for Begin To Hope, one of my very favorite albums of 2006, Regina Spektor has teamed up with iTunes to celebrate the New Year with a cover of Peggy Lee’s “My Dear Acquaintance (Happy New Year).”

Strangely enough, 2006 also marked the first release of Ms. Lee’s original track, closing out the highly recommended Capitol release, Christmas With Peggy Lee. But with a mix that incorporates several “of-the-moment” sound effects, Regina’s modern take is pretty stellar in its own right.
