As one who appreciates quality house music, I’ve got to give it up to the younger generation of producers who are doing the genre proud decades after its birth.

London producer XXXY (aka Rupert Taylor) is part of the new breed, this week serving up the Got Me So EP, featuring three quality house cuts. Rifling through new releases this past Tuesday, the set’s second track, “Get Ready,” is the one that really grabbed my attention. And no wonder, as XXXY has sampled Chicago house diva Kim English’s single, “Missing You,” which topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in April 2000.

“How I wish I could turn back time,” indeed.

Be sure to give the tracks that bookend “Get Ready” a good spin too. Check out the EP’s title track, “Got Me So,” and “Studio 9 (Just Like That),” which is really working me over in the best possible way.
