Leona Lewis – “Bleeding Love”
I first heard this song back in October on BBC Radio 1 (via Sirius Satellite Radio)
, and was immediately in love (though thankfully, not bleeding).

Leona Lewis was the 2006 winner of The X Factor, a British television singing co
mpetition created by American Idol judge Simon Cowell. Her debut album, Spirit, is available the UK, but isn’t scheduled to hit these shores until April 8. Cowell produced the disc with music impresario Clive Davis, who plans to give Leona a big promotional push here in the States (including an appearance on Idol).

For now, there’s just the lead single, “Bleeding Love,” written by Ryan Tedder (of OneRepublic) and Jesse McCartney (yep, the Summerland “star”). The video premieres today on VH1, so maybe you’ll see it sandwiched between episodes of Celebrity Rehab and Rock of Love 2. Leona deserves better, but I guess even the Mighty Clive has to settle for what he can get.

“Let Me Think About It” – Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand
Another selection from my Radio 1 listening party in October, “Let Me Think About It” is a club collaboration between Danish singer Ida Corr (who wrote the track) and Dutch house DJ Fedde Le Grand (“Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”). It reached #2 on the UK singles chart, and just hit #1 on this week’s Billboard Hot Dance Airplay chart.

I love the creative, insistent instrumentation, which perfectly punctuates the vocals. Even in this edited form (which barely tops two and a half minutes), the mix is fantastic. Currently available on import single only, or through Beatport (the download may be a piece of a continuous mix).

[Update: Purchase “Let Me Think About It” via Amazon, iTunes.]
