Belinda Carlisle has premiered the music video for her new single, “Sun.” The soaring dance-pop track was co-written by Carlisle with her Go-Go’s bandmate Jane Wiedlin and L.A. singer-songwriter Gabe Lopez, and produced by Ian Masterson. Since its release a couple of weeks ago, I’ve dialed up “Sun” regularly on my iPod — four minutes of unbridled positivity.
Speaking to Spinner about stepping back into the spotlight with “Sun,” Carlisle said, “[It’s] lyrically where I’m at in my mind, which is all about moving forward and being positive and looking at the bright side. So it just seemed like a perfect fit.”
While “Sun” is particularly well suited to soundtrack any and all outdoor activities, the song’s music video keeps the celebratory vibe indoors. Still, under stage lights — where she’s had a home for more than three decades — Carlisle can’t help but shine with “Sun.”
