Kate Boy – “The Way We Are”

May 8, 2013 0 Comments

Kate Boy keeps getting better and better.

The Stockholm-based synthpop group has debuted a new song, “The Way We Are,” following the flat-out brilliant “Northern Lights” and less-so-but-still-brilliant “In Your Eyes.” The prominent Plinko-like rhythms of those two tunes return on “The Way We Are” — a signature part of Kate Boy’s sound, it seems — but what makes the foursome’s latest offering stand apart from the previous pair is how singer Kate Akhurst attacks the tune. Coming out swinging, there’s a new urgency to her vocals on “The Way We Are” that verges on ferocity.

Will we like Kate Boy when he/she really gets angry? Best prepare to clear the way now when they go four for four.
