While we wait for an official single release of Betty Who‘s “High Society” — she’s still busy promoting current pick, “You’re In Love” — New York/Seattle duo The Soundmen have stepped in with a remix that should satisfy fans of The Movement EP standout in the meantime.
“The second we heard this song, all we could think about was how much it reminded us of our favorite ’90s R&B jams from SWV, Blaque, and TLC,” The Soundmen’s Scott Durday explains. “So we gave it a throwback spin to create what we hope is a completely unique sound that incorporates the percussive flavor of the ’90s with modern gigantic pop sensibilities.”
The remix’s jeep beats are definitely transporting me back to an earlier time and place. And with Notorious B.I.G. also along for the ride, the toughened-up “High Society” gets it popping with mentions of champagne and chardonnay:
